New Delhi, the capital of India saw the world’s best car makers come together at the Auto Expo 2012, the 11 Auto Expo which started on Thursday, despite the slowdown in global economy Indian market seems to be better. “We now see this as one of the most important shows on the calendar,” Ford’s Asia-Pacific president Joe Hinrichs said on Wednesday, apart from that it is expected that India’s undermined market will be the world’s third largest auto market by 2020.

Ambassador Back in India

Ambassador the car which was used only by Ministers and Government purposes is now back in India. Those were days when car meant only Ambassador, it was considered one of the luxury cars in India. Hindustan Motors is coming back with four new versions of Ambassador in India.

Although HM had made couple of not-so-successful efforts to revamp the iconic car, their tweaks were limited to just interiors and powertrains. The exterior design always remained the same and the retro looks failed to impress the GenX. Finally, the company has decided to give a complete new look to Amby and has roped in Pune-based design firm Onio Design for this purpose. The first variant would be ready by December.

All the new variants of the Ambassador will be available with an engine size ranging between 1500 cc to 2000 cc. Meanwhile, HM will work equally hard to preserve the traits of the Amby which is space, comfort and ease of maintenance.

FIAT Linea 1.4 litre T-Jet new variant of Linea

Fiat is all set to launch the new Fiat Linea 1.4 litre. The new T-Jet variant comes with a 1.4 litre turbocharged petrol engine which generates 118bhp. The T-Jet will be the only car in its category to sport a turbo charged petrol engine and will take on segment leader, Honda city. The new 1.4 litre motor will be coupled along with a w five speed manual transmission. India’s most expensive car Bugatti Veyron 16 Crore

For those who are not scared to digg a hole in their pockets, here is something which will bring you peace of mind. The India’s most expensive car has arrived welcome the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport priced at Rs 16 Cr.

“Bugatti has been doing well in America, Europe and the Middle East. Now we see India as an emerging market for us, hence we have decided to bring the car to India,” Bugatti Automobiles Sales Market Manager (Middle East, Europe and India) Guy Caquelin told reporters here.

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, priced at Rs 16 crore onwards, will be distributed by the company’s Indian dealer Exclusive Motors. So far, the most expensive cars in India have been the Rolls Royce Phantom and the Maybach, which are priced around Rs 5 crore.

“The price of the car will be subject to foreign exchange fluctuation and the levels of customisation that a buyer demands,” Exclusive Motors Managing Director Satya Bagla said.

He, however, said that with the Indian luxury car market growing at about 25 per cent there is an opportunity for such expensive cars.

“The Bugatti Veyron is four times more expensive than what’s being sold in the India. So we are currently testing the customer response,” Bagla said, when asked if there has been any order for the car.

He said delivery would take about 6-8 months from the date of order.

Caquelin said Bugatti is aiming between 60 and 80 units of the car to be sold across the globe this year and there have been queries from 3 to 4 Indians globally.

The company claims that the Bugatti Veyron is also the fastest car on production that is allowed to drive on normal roads in the world with a top speed of 407 km/hour with an acceleration of 0-100km/hour in 2.7 seconds.

The car, which uses components made of special materials like titanium, carbon fibre and magnesium is powered by an 8 litre engine with 16 cylinders and is assembled by hand at the company’s hand headquarters Molsheim in France.

MAHINDRA NEW BIKES Stallio and Mojo Unveiled

Mahindra Two Wheelers has entered the Indian bike market with launch of two bikes – “Mahindra Stallio” and “Mahindra Mojo”. On 30^th September 2010 the company has unveiled the two bikes – the first two of its motorcycles for the Indian market. The manufacturers have also announced Amir Khan, the famous Bollywood star, as the brand ambassador for these bikes.

The first model named “Stallio” is a commuter motorcycle. The bike comes with a four stroke, single –cylinder and air-cooled 106.7 cc engine. The engine is mated to a four speed gearbox. It produces a maximum power of 7.3 bhp at 7500 rpm and a maximum torque of 8 Nm at 5500 rpm.

The “Stallio” uses telescopic forks upfront and adjustable shocks at the rear. Alloy wheels, an electric starter, a fully digital instrument console and LED tail lamps are features available on this bike.

The “Stallio” will hit the showrooms in the first half of October, 2010 and would cost Rs.44, 690 for top variant with alloys and digital console, while the base variant with spoke wheel and analogue dials will cost Rs. 41,199 (all prices ex-showroom Pune).

The second bike is named “Mojo”. The bike features a four stroke, fuel-injected, single-cylinder and liquid cooled 292 cc engine. Double Overhead Camshafts (DOHC) operate this engine’s four valves. The engine produces a maximum power of 25.8 bhp at 8500 rpm and a maximum torque of 2.5 kgm at 7000 rpm.

The “Mojo” rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and uses inverted front telescopic forks and a monoshock rear suspension. The Braking system consists of 320 mm front and a 220 mm rear petal disc. Other important features of “Mojo” are -Dual exhaust system, mirror mounted indicators, digital speedometer and tubeless tyres.

Low price cars cheaper than Tata Nano to hit Indian roads

After the Tata Nano other car companies too have set there minds to bring small low budget cars in India, pricing less than 2 Lakhs. Having no competitors so far Tata Nano leads the competition. The cars expected in this series are Hyundai’s new 800cc car, a low cost car from Nissan Renault Bajaj joint venture. Apaart from these some big names like US based General Motors and France based Fiat are also in the league to launch there cars in this low cost segment.
Hyundai India, is expected to launch a 1.6 Lakh Rupeess car according to media reports. The car is in still in development at the research center in Hyderabad where the compnay is working along with South Korean counterparts to develop the new machine to conquer the market. The new Hyundai baby is expected to come powered with a 800 CC engine and will compete against India’s best-selling car Maruti Alto. The company will display this model at the upcoming
International Auto Expo in India in the year 2012.

On the Other hand, the Nissan-Renault joint venture has agreed to price the ultra low cost (ULC) car that they are jointly developing with Bajaj Auto at $2,500, (around Rs 1.10 lakh). The company had announced about this ultra-low-cost fuel-efficient car in year 2008 which was scheduled to be completed by this year but due to the delay in finalizing the issues like pricing and designing, the project has been postponed to 2012.

Besides this, India’s leading car maker Tata Motors is working on a project to deliver a car that will be shelved between Tata Nano and Tata Indica. With this, India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki is working on its plans to launch its small car Maruti Cervo in India, by the end of this year. The Cervo model is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 1.5 to 2 lakh.
