TVS showcased its upcoming bike in the 10th Auto Expo. The TVS QUBE is a scooter which looks promising and seems that the machine will give a challenge to other competitors in its category. It runs on TVS Pep+ engine but has an electric motor. The company didn’t specify about the launch date as yet, but rumors are rife that the QUBE will roll out in 2010. The scooter is based on award-winning QUBE concept. The design of the TVS QUBE scooter echoes one point – that less is more. Wheel caps, the speedometer console, side panels, fan cover, exhaust, and the seat with the fused tail lights gives the scooter a refreshing look and the company says they designed it after taking inspiration from the award-winning QUBE.

TVS QUBE uses a hybrid electric motor which strikes a perfect balance between efficiency and lesser carbon emissions thereby complying with the company’s mission of producing eco-friendly vehicles and stands an example of company’s commitment to pursuing green technology. The green technology used in this vehicle contributes to about 30 % reduced CO2 emission reduction, and about 30% higher fuel economy.

Honda launches Aviator 110cc Scooter

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) launched its latest product, the new Aviator gearless scooter in Mumbai on October 28.

Scooter with a bigger 110cc engine,the new Aviator develops 8bhp. The company claims it has also achieved an increase of 15 percent in overall mileage. The scooter comes with a host of new features like viscous air filter, maintenance-free battery and a combi-brake system where the front and rear brakes are activated jointly when the left lever is applied.The deluxe variant of Aviator also gets a chrome front-cover, body colour grab rails, front disc brake with three-piston calipers and instrument panel garnish. The new Aviator adheres to the stricter BS-III norms for two-wheelers that will come into effect from April 2010.

At the Aviator launch in Mumbai, Shinji Aoyama, president and CEO, HMSI said, “Honda will continue to make innovative and appealing products to serve the new aspirations of Indian customers.”

Retailing at Rs 45,180 for the base and Rs 50,410 for the deluxe variant, the new Aviator, compared to the outgoing model, gets dearer by Rs 3000 and Rs 4000 respectively.
Honda has confirmed that it will unveil a brand new 100cc motorcycle for India at the Auto Expo 2010 in January.

Mahindra Rodeo and Duro Scooters

Mahindra has launched two new scooters, Rodeo and Duro. The models are Mahindra’s first launch after it re-introduced the Flyte with improved quality earlier this year.
Rodeo has been modified with an intention to cater the more upmarket customers. Rodeo comes with a front mudguard (missing on the Flyte), slightly longer seat and revised grab rail. The Rodeo is also filled with features such as a multi-functional digital display, charging port for mobile and Mp3 players, 4-in-1 key system that starts the engine, operates the fuel lock, handle lock and a magnetic key lock, and telescopic front suspension. The scooter also comes fitted with a side stand buzzer which indicates if the side stand is still on.

Rodeo

Nothing has been changed in the engine department. Rodeo is powered by the identical 124.6cc engine that produces a peak power output of 8bhp at 7500rpm. The Rodeo will be available in seven colour options; Fiery Black, Forest Green, Cappuccino Brown, Blazing Red, Golden Beige, Majestic Maroon and Deep Ocean Blue. Rodeo will cost Rs 2300 in excess to the Flyte and will retail at Rs 41,299 (ex showroom,approx).

Duro

The Duro, is essentially a revived version of the Nova. Exterior changes are made only in the form of new trendy graphics. While on the engine front, it now gets the smaller 124.6 cc engine from the Flyte with 8 bhp and 0.9 kgm of torque (Nova has 135 cc engine). Duro will be available in a range of six colours; Fiery Black, Pearl White, Cappuccino Brown, Mystique Grey, Majestic Maroon and Golden Beige. It has been priced competitively at Rs 38,299 (ex-showroom, approx).
With the launch of these two scooters, Mahindra 2 Wheeler’s line-up now comprises of Kine, 4S, Nova 135, Flyte, Rodeo and the Duro.
Mahindra plans to continue with the production of the Nova 135 alongside the new scooters. The company also plans to enter into the motorcycle segment by early 2010.
