Ask around any Indian college parking lot from the 2010s and somebody had a 220F, or badly wanted one. Funny thing is, you can walk into a showroom and buy basically the same bike today. The Bajaj Pulsar 220F price right now? Rs 1,35,582, ex-showroom. But there’s fresh news too. Bajaj has said a properly updated 220F is coming. Should you buy one now or hang on a bit? Let me walk you through it.
Pulsar 220F news: an update is coming
Here’s the bit that got people searching. BikeDekho wrote on 28 October 2026 that Bajaj, at a recent first ride event, confirmed “comprehensive updates” for the 220F soon. No date. No full list either. What we have are educated guesses from the press, and I’ll mark them that way.
The expected changes, per that report:
- Small design tweaks plus fresh paint and graphics (not a whole new face).
- Maybe a new frame, and a monoshock in place of the twin rear shocks.
- That 5-inch TFT you’ve seen on newer Pulsars, the one that does phone pairing, turn-by-turn and even Google Maps mirroring.
- Possibly dual-channel ABS, switchable traction control, ride-by-wire and ride modes. Possibly.
- Perhaps an all-new engine too, built along the lines of the updated Pulsar 125 and 150. Don’t expect a big jump in power though.
When? BikeDekho guesses it could be here by the end of 2026, but that’s their guess, and Bajaj itself has stayed quiet on dates.
How the 220F got here: the 2025 and 2026 updates
Bajaj hasn’t left the old warrior totally alone, to be fair. Last December (2025) it picked up four new paint jobs, some carbon-fibre look stickers, rim stripes and slimmer LED blinkers, and Bajaj priced it at Rs 1.28 lakh in Delhi, ex-showroom.
Then came June. On the 18th, Bajaj finally binned that old halogen headlamp for an LED unit with LED DRLs built in, and (no surprise) the price went up too. Autocar India says by Rs 8,000, to roughly Rs 1.36 lakh. The engine stayed exactly the same.
So the current bike is a familiar machine with a few modern bits added on top. That’s both its charm and its weak spot.
Bajaj Pulsar 220F price and on-road cost
Simple lineup: one variant, that’s it. Rs 1,35,582 ex-showroom is what Bajaj’s own site, BikeDekho and ZigWheels all show. Out on the road, Autocar India reckons roughly Rs 1.48 lakh in Delhi, and somewhere around Rs 1.51-1.61 lakh in the other metros. Your final figure depends on the RTO charge and insurance in your state.
There was also a festive deal in October 2026. Jagran’s report mentioned total benefits worth Rs 7,700 on this bike (Rs 3,000 of that being straight cash off). Deals like these come and go fast though, so check with the showroom first.

On paper it’s 20.9 PS and 18.55 Nm, per Bajaj (peak power comes at 8,500 rpm, torque at 7,000). Nothing fancy underneath: one cylinder, 220cc, oil cooling, two spark plugs and five gears, same as it’s been for years. Discs at both ends (280 mm front, 230 mm rear) but ABS works on the front wheel only. Tubeless rubber all round, by the way (90/90-17 front, 120/80-17 rear).
What about mileage? Bajaj doesn’t quote an official figure on its page. Going by what owners post on Autocar India, it’s roughly 40 kmpl. Heavy city traffic will pull that down, so your mileage may vary, literally.
Features you get today
The list is short but useful. There’s a digital LCD console with Bluetooth, turn-by-turn navigation, call accept or reject, missed call and message alerts, plus a clock and distance-to-empty readout. Add the LED headlight with DRLs and the LED indicators, and that’s about it.
Colours? Depends who you ask, honestly. Bajaj’s December 2025 launch named Black Cherry Red, Black Ink Blue, Black Copper Beige and Green Light Copper, and Black Gold joined in June. BikeDekho says Green Light Copper has since vanished from Bajaj’s site. Best to see what your dealer actually has.
What’s missing? No TFT screen, no traction control, no dual-channel ABS, no gear position indicator. One BikeDekho owner review even asked for wider tyres and a gear indicator. Fair point.
Who should buy it now, and who should wait?
Buy now if you want a comfy, half-faired 220 for touring at a fair price, and you like an engine that’s been around long enough for every mechanic in town to know it inside out. With the festive offer, it’s decent value.
Wait if a TFT screen, dual-channel ABS or a monoshock matter to you. If the updated bike lands around the end of 2026 as expected, it should fix most of the old complaints. The catch is price. Newer hardware usually costs more, and Bajaj hasn’t hinted at any figure. I’d guess the new one will cost more, but that’s only my guess.
How it compares with other Bajaj bikes
Within Bajaj’s own range, the NS200 got a TFT display and quickshifter in October 2026, and BikeWale reported that version at Rs 1.60 lakh. That’s the sportier naked option. The Avenger Cruise 220 uses a 220cc engine of its own, with 19.03 PS and 17.55 Nm on BikeDekho, for cruiser-style riders. The 220F sits between them as the relaxed half-faired tourer.
My take
The Pulsar 220F is like an old friend: reliable, easy to live with, a bit dated. The LED headlight helps a lot at night. But in late 2026 the feature list does feel thin. If you’re not in a hurry, give it a few weeks and see what Bajaj shows. Need wheels this month though? Then go ahead, the current one won’t let you down.
