Yamaha VMax has a robust look. The broad headlights, the aggressively styled hand finished aluminium air intakes, the beautifully finished black main-frame provide an athletic and high-tech appearance. The new diamond shaped frame has been developed using Yamaha’s industry-leading chassis design and manufacturing technology. The sleek taillights are really eye catching. The alloy wheels provide a very macho look to the bike.Yamaha VMax has taken special care for the comfort of the rider and the pillion. The bike has an extremely comfortable seat and the placement of handlebars, gearshifts and brake is done so as to ensure easy reach. The self start bike has a digital fuel gauge, analogue tachometer, digital-2 trip meter and digital speedometer. Other comfort features include Step-up seat, Pass-light, Low-fuel indicator and Low oil indicator.
Yamaha VMax has given prime importance to safety aspect. The bike has 52 mm telescopic front forks and swing arm link type rear suspension. The brake system is also quite responsive. The braking system that has been developed for this bike is one of the most sophisticated and powerful. At the front end, dual 320 mm diameter wave-type discs are gripped by radial mounted 6 piston calipers for excellent stopping-power and for superb feel, the master cylinder features a radial type pump. The bike runs with a 298 mm wave-type disc slowed by a pin-slide type single-piston caliper.
Yamaha VMax is also equipped with a newly developed linear-controlled hydraulic ABS system which is designed to enhance braking control. The hydraulic control system is activated by a linear solenoid valve which prevents wheel lock-up during braking and helps to achieve effective braking on different types of roads.
The ABS system combines the ECU and hydraulic mechanism into a single unit which is situated under the seat.
Yamaha VMax has 1679 cc liquid cooled 4 stroke DOHC 65 degree V4 engine which has been designed to offer great acceleration. The engine develops a maximum power of 194 bhp at 9000 rpm with a maximum torque of 170 Nm at 6500 rpm.
The bike has advanced technology like YCC-I (Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake) and YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle) which are key factors in achieving high levels of power. The engine is also equipped with a sophisticated new fuel injection system, which, together with the YCC-I and YCC-T, ensures that the engine is fully equipped to deliver high levels of standing-start and roll on acceleration.
The bike is quite huge and has a length of 2395 mm and its width is 820 mm while the height of the bike is 1190 mm. The bike weighs 310 kgs and has a ground clearance of 140 mm. The fuel tank limit is of 15 litres and the wheelbase of the bike is 1700 mm.
The bike comes with Yamaha V-Boost induction system which is a variable intake system that boosts power. This system allows large amount of fuel to be force fed in the cylinders.
