Harley Davidson motorcycles showcased in India at the 2010 Auto Expo in New Delhi.US motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson said that they will launch 12 motorcycles in the Indian market priced between Rs 6.95 lakh and Rs 34.95 lakh.
Harley Davidson motorcycles attracting attention and the Auto Expo is no exception because of there iconic syyle and sound. The audio-visual presentation at Harley-Davidson’s pavilion depicts myriad scenes of the iconic motorcycles against various backdrops as one would expect from a company that sells motorcycles in more than 70 countries.
However, one has to wonder if these iron horses will win the hearts of Indian enthusiasts and create the biking culture that seems to sprout wherever Harley-Davidson sets up shop. “Of course,” says Anoop Prakash, managing director, Harley-Davidson India. “Harley-Davidson already has strong brand value in India and we aim to consolidate and build on that image. And as is the case with the rest of the world, we will actively promote the philosophy of biking brotherhood through rides, rallies and so on, because that sense of community is an integral part of the Harley-Davidson experience.”
The Sportster range of Harley Davidson have four models at 6.95 lakh to 11.95 lakh , the Dyna range have two models at 13.95 lakh and 15.45 lakh , the VRSC range have one model at Rs 18.95 lakh , the Softail range have two models at 18.45 lakh and 19.45 lakh and the Touring range have three models at 20.45 lakh to 34.95 lakh.
“Bookings for Harley-Davidson motorcycles will open from April 2010 at dealerships to be announced in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chandigarh. The delivery of motorcycles will start from June 2010,” company’s MD Anoop Prakash told reporters at the 10th Auto Expo in New Delhi.
